Yacouba Fashion Illustration
For my friend (& fellow Tafe Fashion graduate's) birthday, I was running out of ideas for what to get her, then it dawned on me, seeing as I've been doing so much fashion illustration work, that I'd illustrate her Final Graduate Collection from 2009 when we graduated. I'm really glad she liked it. (watercolour & lead pencil on A3 watercolour paper, framed). I'm still preparing for the Paper+Plus Art Sale, coming up on the 29th & 30th of Oct at the Port Noarlunga Arts Centre, where I'll be selling my fashion illustrations (all different mediums) pricing between $10-$200), hope to see you there! I hope to keep working on my bridal illustrations too and shall upload those later on :)
Happy 1st Birthday Blog!
Wow I can't believe it's already been a year since I started blogging! It's definitely gone fast!
Although I'd love to blog about every project I do, be it fashion, styling, illustration, jewellery, & more; sometimes there just isn't the time, so I hope you can find me on facebook at my page:
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Belinda-Zanello-Fashion-styling-illustration-jewellery/148916288493758
I endeavor to continue blogging as long as there's a free computer and I have the time. It's a lot of fun & I love reading people's feedback/comments on my posts, so please don't ever stop!
I'd like to thank each and every person for following my blog and to those who follow the facebook, twitter, youtube, tumblr profile's I've created. I love trying to reach out and find others who share similar interests and creative passions, otherwise the world just doesn't feel the same. I hope if you're reading this and you too want to start something based on your passions or interests, be it just a hobby, or even a small business or beyond, that you do start it, start it today. Tomorrow isn't promised today, as dramatic as it sounds; but I wouldn't have put any of my interests into action if I kept waiting & putting it off time and time again. As Oprah said, "You always had the power" and finding your calling really is why we're all here. Some people can utilize their gift or interests into a career or occupation, others find that it isn't always so, it could be something more personal, like the way you can lift people up, or your quirky silly streak or your nurturing personality.
Not all gifts or callings end with a six digit salary. The main thing is you are living to your full potential of satisfaction. It's what makes you want to get up in the morning & start really living your best life. For me that is creating. I love creating beautiful things that give people pleasure, but also things that are personal, that may invoke something sentimental. When I source materials usually they are unique and one-of or kind of quirky and left-of-centre, I just believe that in this mass-made world, I just want to hold something in my hand and know who made it, know where and how and why it was made, and made by someone who WANTS to make it because it gives them pleasure, not because they're in a factory being paid $2 an hour to make it. I enjoy what I do and it gives me joy when I see people appreciate the simple fact that it was made with love. Love is the strongest thing on this planet. Do what you love, with love. That is what I'm reminded of on my blog's birthday. Funny, but true. :)

Stylist Recount: Spring Fling Fashion Shoot (Behind the Scenes Photos Only)
| Behind the Scenes |
It's only the third day of Spring and already there's change in the air. New blossoms are bursting on the peach and nectarine tree in my backyard, and everywhere there are new flowers and new life.
I had the song "Turn! Turn! Turn! (To Everything There Is A Season)" by The Byrds (Forest Gump soundtrack) stuck in my head after looking back at today's shoot. Spring is so gentle & feminine, just like the fashion & beauty today.
Lauren Parkinson's (http://www.laurenparkinson.com) Make Up Artistry & hair styling encompassed that beautifully, with dewy lips, a fresh complexion, glowing eyes and soft, flowy hair.

I seriously can't wait to see Antony's work for this shoot, the way the sunlight was filtering through the trees and also his new lighting made the shoot look perfect, I can't wait. We had a great day out at Old Port Noarlunga and stopped at a little cafe and Antony bought us lunch yummmm!
I'll upload the video soon (I filmed the Behind the Scenes again, it's so addictive) And will post finished photos too, can't wait!

Stylist's Recount: Edgy, Fierce Shoot
My humblest apologies for such a long gap in between blog posts, work has consumed me and I've also been creating Fantasy Fascinators by night like a Mad Hatter! (photos coming soon!).
The latest shoot I was fortunate to style was for Photographer Antony Snape (http://antonysnape.com/home). Based around the darker side of fashion; a little street-style, a bit dominatrix, a bit sharp-edged glamour and strong shape-oriented silhouettes, I had my black corset at the ready for a structured, fierce feel!

Our lovely model Erin's stunning cheekbones and bright eyes were brought to centre stage by Make-Up Artist Marie Fiorita (http://www.mariemakeup.com/#home), who I must say impressed on all levels, with one of those folding high chairs like you see on the set of a movie for Erin to sit on while she worked her magic.. and the adrenaline kicked in and I started reaching for my Vogue and RUSSH magazines for ideas and themes I had to talk about with them.
It was a great shoot at a location I'd never been to (not local) but amazing, industrial, nautical, clean and just perfect weather (not bad for this winter!) Antony knows how to take a location and work with it in unexpected ways for fashion photography & his use of colour tones is my favourite part. There is a consistent blue theme in the fashion/accessories and I like how it's been accentuated with the background. The red tones in the corset-shots really bring out the sinister intensity I was hoping for in Erin's fashion-look. It was a privelidge to have my fashion and jewellery (& fascinator) featured in this fashion shoot.
Erin looked incredible in my corset (first corset I made back in 2009, cinches in your waist 8 inches, if you do the corsetry course at Tafe SA Fashion, you won't regret it!). My favourite part was seeing Erin in the white GaGa style 6 inch platform stilettos wearing the black corset underneath the long blue chiffon gown (I designed & made a few months earlier). The sun was starting to set, there were these great shadows mixing with the background and a warm golden light and all of a sudden for no reason the wind started blowing in Erin's direction, blowing up the dress Marilyn Monroe-style and creating that perfect shot, I love it when that happens! Especially when there's no powerpoints for a fan to make wind, mother nature provides!
A big thank you to the whole team and assistant Luke Greaves for keeping the whole shoot seamless and creative and supportive and exciting! It was a great day!
I'll be making a 'Behind-the-Scenes' video this week, stay tuned to see footage from this shoot on location, I can't wait to start working on it!
