BZ designs in Winter

I know it's been a long time since I've sewn anything to sell but slowly, slowly I'm gathering all my fabrics, buying pattern paper, sketching and researching and getting there while juggling uni and work!

Until then, I wanted to show my current designs which are still available to buy are quite versatile and practical in Winter too with floral prints gearing up for spring time sartorial fun.

These are my Bustier Vests (button-up front), made mostly with printed cottons/linens/poly lace. They are great to wear in Summer with denim shorts but in Winter they look even cuter over chiffon blouses/shirts paired with a high-waisted pencil skirt for that secretary/Mad Men '60's look!

  • Fully lined
  • All are size Aus 10 (bust 87cm, waist 70cm).
  • $20 each + postage (Registered post recommended)
  • Email Belinda.Zanello@gmail.com for enquiries and to purchase them!

July Fashion Shoot

Behind the Scenes shot
During my uni break how could I resist the chance to work with belleZar and Antony again on another shoot! Inspired by the works of Bruno Dayan & Signe Vilstrup, everyone was aiming for a high sophistication and intensity in lighting design and contrasts. Clothing needed to have a tailored appeal, sharp, bold and high end.

I chose a few things that reminded me of a quote Marilyn Monroe said, "A woman's clothing should be tight enough to show she is a woman, but loose enough to show she is a lady." I had recently acquired a red pencil dress, reminiscent of the 50's Monroe and also 60's Mad Men TV show. It was a hit.

A few other finds of mine are treasures from Op Shops or Online Shopping to find pieces that really make a distinct look such as a belly-dance costume bra, bedazzled with sequins, beads and rhinestones!
Anita and Lauren of belleZar worked their magic in hairstyling and make up artistry on our gorgeous tall, leggy and very beautiful model Madz.

The photography in this shoot was by the one and only Antony Snape. Inimitable, sophisticated work that leaves us wondering, 'how did he do that?!'.

There will be a Behind-the-Scenes video soon, I'm working on it soon so stay tuned!

Spin Off

To brighten up my winter, I attended the new music festival, called 'Spin Off' and was pleasantly surprised with the venue, line up and amazing performances by my favourites (and style muse's) Kimbra, Lana Del Rey!

Also Band of Skulls, Last Dinosaurs, Yacht Club DJ's and more. It was a great day & well worth seeing next year if they hold it again.

From a designer/seamstress point of view my night was capped off perfectly when I saw Kimbra's outstanding explosion of colour, which would be her skirt!

Created with a mini hoop skirt underneath with netting underneath, it was covered in bias binding strips which held folded ribbon of various colours, in the shape of squares.

The strips were free-moving and swirled and bounced when Kimbra danced, and she did!

Just wanted to share some shots of it, to inspire and be inspired.

B xx
